Manage your Process Mining projects

On the Manage projects page, you can create, edit, or delete existing projects, upload additional process data into a project, download project log files, or recalculate the measures and dimensions of a project.

The Manage project page gives you an overview of the statuses of all available projects. Every status is represented by an icon with a tooltip that contains the name of the status.

The projects can have the following statuses:

  • status incomplete Incomplete: The configuration is not complete. Another user is working on this configuration or this configuration was aborted. An aborted configuration can no longer be edited. The Last update time stamp of this project can help to identify if a project is being edited by another user or not.

  • status import is running Configured: The configuration was completed and imported into PPM, but the data was not yet imported into PPM.

  • status OK Successful: The configuration is complete and imported into PPM, and the last data import completed successfully.

  • status progress Import is running: The data import is currently still being executed.

  • status progress Deletion in progress: The deletion of the process data or a project is currently running, but has not yet finished.

  • status error Error uploading: The upload of the data for this project failed and must be cleaned up. Clicking Clean up deletes incomplete data of an interrupted import.

  • status error Error importing: The data import (or the recalculation of the data) for this project failed and must be repaired. Clicking Repair tries to finish the interrupted import.

  • status error Error deleting: The deletion of the process data or project failed and must be restarted. For details, see the chapter Error handling.

In addition, the overview page shows which process type group and process type the process instances of a project are assigned to.

Last update is the time of the last modification of the project while it is in status Incomplete or Configured. When the project is no longer in state Incomplete or Configured, it is the time of the last file upload or the start of the last import.

Tip

You can open the Manage projects page by clicking the ARIS Process Mining logo on the program bar and then clicking Manage your projects.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Refresh list to update the status of the listed projects.

  2. Click New project to create a new project for your Process Mining configuration.

  3. Select a project.

  4. Click More actions More actions -> View project... to open the configuration wizard in view mode. The wizard displays the pages Data types configured, Process criteria assigned, and Measures and dimensions configured. The pages are not editable.

  5. Click More actions More actions -> Import data... to open the data import page of the configuration wizard of the selected project.

    The option is available if the project is in status Configured, no other import is running, and no other project is in an error state.

  6. Click More actions More actions -> Delete... to delete individual projects and process data of selected projects.

    The projects can only be deleted if there is no other project that is in status ERROR , Import is running , or Deletion in progress . Projects in status ERROR cannot be deleted.

  7. Click log file Download latest log file to read the last log file created for the selected project.

    This option is only available if at least one data import was executed.

  8. Click upload Upload process data and select a CSV file containing the required data.

    The option is available if the project is in status Successful, no other import is currently running, and no other project is in an error state.

    If the file does not fit to the configuration of this project, that is, if the column headers are not the same, then the file is rejected.

    The CSV file is read with the same encoding as specified in the project. So the encoding must be the same.

  9. Click More actions More actions -> Recalculate data... to recalculate all measures and dimensions for the process type of a selected project.

    You can use this action to calculate the process data for the ARIS PPM conformance check. You must run the Recalculate data action after you have imported the corresponding ARIS reference model into the Process Mining client.     This action is only available if the project is in Successful status, and no other project is in Import is running, Deletion in progress, or Error status.
