How does favorites cache management work in PPM?
With the favorites cache, PPM can accelerate favorites calculation. You can specify whether the result of the favorites calculation is to be saved in the cache. When you call the favorite again, the results are retrieved directly from the cache which leads to an accelerated display. If relevant data or elements, such as user-defined measures change in the PPM database, PPM automatically recalculates the favorites in the favorites cache, if the recalculation has been configured in the server settings.
To avoid that unused or rarely used favorites slow down favorites queries, you can configure the favorites cache. To do so, use the editor in the Administration module. The editor displays all available favorites and shared favorites in a treeview and lists the favorites of each PPM user with the PPM login function privilege. To be able to better evaluate the favorites' relevance, you can additionally display a statistical evaluation.
In the navigation tree, the favorites folders of the shared favorites and favorites are sorted by PPM user.
In the upper Favorites folder window, all folders subordinate to the folder you selected in the navigation tree are listed with the corresponding evaluations.
The Names column specifies the names of the subordinate folders.
The Number of favorites column specifies the total number of favorites contained in the relevant folder.
The Number of accesses column specifies the minimum and maximum number of accesses to favorites of the relevant folder.
The Last access column specifies the date of last access to the favorite indicating the earliest and latest access.
The Calculated favorites column specifies the number of calculated favorites in the relevant folder, that is, the favorites contained in the favorites cache.
The statistics on a folder in the list includes all subordinate folders.
In the bottom Favorites window, all favorites are listed that are contained in a favorites folder selected in the navigation tree or list.
The Name column specifies the name of a favorite.
The Number of accesses column specifies how many times the favorite was called.
The Last access column specifies the date including time of the last access.
The Calculated column specifies whether the favorite is contained in the favorites cache.
If a favorite is marked as calculated, the Accelerate execution option is enabled in its properties.
