Create planned value definitions in the editor window

By comparing the actual measure values with the planned values, PPM enables you to identify weak spots in processes and also to establish an automated early-alert system for your processes.

Prerequisite

You have the Planned value management function privilege.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Click PPM > Configuration.

  2. Click Planned values in the Configuration bar.

  3. Display the Base tab bar.

  4. Click Edit Edit. You can now work with planned value management.

  5. Select a measure group and relation, which your planned value definition is to apply to.

  6. Select an element in the process tree to choose the processes to which you want your planned value definition to apply.

  7. Specify the settings for your planned value definition.

    • The planned value table contains at least one row for each measure that is available for the selected element.

    • If one or more planned value definitions have already been created for a measure, you must insert a new row first. Click a row in the table that contains the relevant measure and click Iinsert row Insert row.

      Set the Filter.

    1. By default, a filter for the Time dimension is set for the new planned value. If data access privileges are used in your system, a filter may also be set in accordance with those privileges. To show details of the filter set, click Filter Display filter details.

    2. To edit the filter, click in the Filter column, make your changes in the Set filter dialog box and click OK. You cannot delete filter settings based on data access privileges.

      Set the actual value.

    3. To display the actual value of the measure in the table, click Show current value Display actual values. The actual value can be used as a reference when defining the planned values.

    4. By default, a time filter is set for the actual value. To edit the filter, click Calendar Set time filter for actual value and specify your settings.

      • The set time filter and the process type are the only valid filter settings for the actual value. The settings in the Filter column of the table apply to the planned value definition, not to the actual value.

        Set the planned values.

    5. Click in the Planned value 1 column. Enter planned value 1 and select a unit from the list, if required. Planned value 1 corresponds to the value above which the measure enters a critical range and accomplishment of the process goal is not ensured.

    6. Click in the Planned value 2 column. Enter planned value 2 and select a unit from the list, if required. Planned value 2 corresponds to the planned measure value. As soon as the measure moves above or below planned value 2, the goal is not accomplished.

      Set the Recipient.

    7. Click in the Recipients column. Select the users and/or user groups that are to receive a planned value message as soon as there is an unfavorable deviation of the measure from the planned values and click OK.

      • If the e-mail addresses of the selected recipients and the sender (user system) are specified in User management, the recipients will receive an e-mail in addition to the planned value message.

        Set the Alarm value.

    8. Click in the Alarm value column. Enter the alarm value and select a unit from the list, if required. The alarm value corresponds to the measure value that you assess as critical for an individual process instance.

      Set the Min/Max value.

    9. Click in the Min/Max value column. Enter the Min/Max value and select a unit from the list, if required. The Min/Max value corresponds to the minimum or maximum value used to calculate the goal accomplishment in terms of the measure.

  8. Click Save Save.

The Status column indicates whether the planned value definition has been saved: The planned value definitions are available in the measure analysis.

You can also create planned value definitions using the Planned Value Definition Wizard.
