Measure

Measures are measurable and calculable properties of processes. The PPM system differentiates between two basic measure categories: process instance-dependent measures and process instance-independent measures.

  • Process instance-dependent measures

    Process instance-dependent measures are identified for each individual process instance and function instance. Each measure value describes a particular property of a process instance or a function instance (for example, the execution time or the number of processors). The measure can therefore have a different value for individual process instances or function instances.

  • Process instance-independent measures

    Process instance-independent measures are not directly related to individual process instances or function instances. The measure value describes a fixed value (for example, the total sales of a specific sales organization or the number of employees or days off in a specific month). The measure value is thus independent of the process instances or function instances under analysis.

  • Measure evaluation

    The rating of a measure indicates the effects of an increasing measure value on the achievement of your process goals.

    • Positive means that rising values have a positive effect on goal accomplishment (for example, number of orders).

    • Negative means that rising values have a negative effect on goal accomplishment (for example, process cycle time).
