How does report automation work?
With report automations, you can run report definitions automatically. You specify report definitions and times of execution in report automations. You also specify the recipients who will receive the created reports by e-mail.
You can specify a rule according to which report definitions are to be executed automatically, for example, a daily execution rule. For a daily report automation, you set the time at which it may be executed at the earliest, for example, at 10:00 am every day. For weekly and monthly report automations, specify the corresponding day of the earliest execution.
The system administrator specifies when the PPM server is to check and run the report automations, for example, after every data import. The server checks at the specified times if report automations exist, whether they have been executed or are to be executed, and executes them, if required. The next possible execution results from the current point in time and the set earliest execution.
The next execution is specified by adding the defined execution period to the current execution date, for example, for monthly execution, one month is added to the current execution date. If you specify the 31st of a month as monthly day of execution, the report will always be run on the last day of a month, even if the month only has 28 or 30 days. However, if you specify the 30th day of a month, the report will be run on the one-but-last day of a month in months with 31 days.
The created reports are automatically saved in a separate directory of your PPM installation and sent to the specified e-mail recipients, if required.

Only activated report automations can be executed.
Only report definitions registered for the user are available.
You can set and manage report automations in the Administration module under Reports/Automations. The left side of the component lists the available report automations. The right detail view displays the settings of a selected report automation.
