Insert variable time span in the calculation rule
You can insert variable time spans as operands in the calculation rule for user-defined measures.
A variable time span is a time span whose value is determined only at the time of calculation of the user-defined measure. This enables the definition of frequency measures and load measures. When defining the time span, the time dimension for determining the value is specified.
Prerequisite
You have the User-defined measure management function privilege.
Open a user-defined measure for editing in the Measure editor.
Click Time span in the Operands bar and drag the time span onto an operator in the measure tree.
Select a reference dimension.
The reference dimension is the dimension used for determining the value of the variable time span. All dimensions of the Time type valid for the selected relation and process tree are offered as reference dimensions.
Select whether the company's factory calendar is to be considered in the calculation of the variable time span.
Click OK.
The calculation rule is modified in line with your settings. Your changes are available to other PPM users as soon as you refresh the display.
For example, to determine the load of a cost center, this operator can be used for specifying the user-defined measure Load = Sum of processing time/Available time (factory calendar). Available time is based on the operator Variable time span. The value of the time span is based on the filter set for the corresponding time dimension at the time of analysis. For an iteration using the reference dimension, the time span is determined for each iteration step. If both a filter and an iteration are specified, both will be considered. If no filter and no iteration are set for this dimension, the difference between maximum and minimum point in time in the database is used.
