Introduction to top-flop analysis
Top-flop analyses enable you to get a quick overview of the best (top) and worst (flop) values of a measure for one or more dimensions. For example, top-flop analyses enable you to identify the material for which delivery reliability was particularly good or poor, or for which combination of customer and plant the order volume was especially high or low. You can decide which top-flop values you want to display, for example, the three best and worst values or the five best and the single worst in each case. The aim of a top-flop analysis is to identify particularly good and/or poor measure/dimension combinations and thus the causes of weak points and reference points for targeted actions.
You can also save top-flop dimensions. With top-flop dimensions you sort and evaluate the individual values of a dimension with regard to a particular numerical measure. The top-flop dimensions appear on the Dimensions tab in the Navigation bar. They are organized under the evaluated dimension and can be made visible by double-clicking the dimension. You can use the top-flop dimensions for your analyses in the same way as any other dimension. Every time you use the top-flop dimension in an analysis, the individual dimension values are sorted according to the current measure values. Special filter options are available for you to use with top-flop dimensions.
Using the Top-Flop Wizard for dimensions, you can conveniently create, edit, and delete top-flop dimensions. The Top-Flop Wizard for analyses supports you in creating top-flop analyses.
