Refine analysis of a selected data area in your chart
In a two-dimensional chart with a two-level, multi-level or time dimension, you can select a particula data area and refine your analysis. The dimension values selected by means of a selection frame are displayed with one step width more refined.
In top-flop charts and multiple charts, such as the multiple pie chart, the selection frame feature is not available.
In distribution and bubble charts, not only the values of the dimension axis, but also the values of the measure axis are transferred.
Prerequisite
You display your analysis as a two-dimensional chart.
Display the Visualization tab bar.
Click
Select data range.Select the range of data in the chart by keeping the mouse button pressed and dragging a selection frame around the relevant data area.
When you let go of the mouse button, an arrow (
) is displayed in the bottom right corner. The arrow indicates that a pop-up menu is available.Click the arrow (
) and select Refine.
The selected data area is refined by one step width and displayed in a new chart.
To cancel your selection, click in the chart background.
